Bring the roofing and solar teams into the same plan
When a building with solar needs roof repairs or replacement, have both responsible teams agree on the work scope before scheduling the start, rather than notifying the solar team after roofers arrive. This is an owner coordination checklist, not instructions for removing panels, isolating electricity or working at height. It does not suggest that every localized repair requires dismantling the entire system.
Identify the repair area and what occupies it
Mark leaks or replacement areas on a plan using available records and photographs taken from safe locations. The U.S. Department of Energy identifies roof replacement as a situation requiring panels and mounting equipment to be removed for the work. Have the relevant specialists assess what the actual project requires removing, relocating or protecting. Distinguish localized repairs from replacement of a whole roof section; an example image cannot replace a site assessment.
Assign responsibilities before comparing prices
Ask proposals to identify responsibility for roofing, electrical equipment and panels, coordination with the system owner and acceptance at each stage. If an investor owns the system or a maintenance agreement applies, check its terms and obtain the required agreement before proceeding. Each party's price should distinguish included items from matters awaiting confirmation, such as transport, storage and reinstallation. Do not assume these are automatically included in the roof repair price.
Plan timing and equipment handovers
Have the responsible team propose appropriate system downtime and site arrangements, coordinated with activities inside the building. Request an equipment list, initial condition record, receiving party and the team's designated storage location. If roofing is delayed, know who reports it and who looks after the equipment while waiting. These records control handovers; they are not advice for owners to disconnect cables or lift modules themselves.
Separate roof acceptance from system recommissioning
Agree beforehand on evidence each team will deliver, such as repair photographs, checks within its responsibility and reinstallation records. Have the solar team assess the actual layout and system after roofing is complete. The same panel count does not mean every existing attachment point can be reused. Roof completion and confirmation that the system is ready to operate may occur on different days, so track them separately.
Keep post-work records for continued care
After acceptance, obtain changed drawings or lists, check results and issue contacts, and read the new work's responsibility terms separately from older documents. Record shutdown dates against production graphs to avoid immediately treating lower totals as equipment damage. Bring the scope and existing documents to Kintury Energy for discussion within the system's service arrangements, confirming suitability and work scope first. Costs, timing and warranties should not be assumed identical across buildings.
